It has a population of 5,026.[1] It formerly functioned as an east-coast port, but now lies inland. The town once boasted a small castle, and on its present-day outskirts lies another — Tulloch Castle, parts of which may date back to the 12th-century building. The Dingwall Web Site Dingwall is the County Town of Ross and Cromarty, a mere 12 miles away from the City of Inverness. Sitting at the head of the Cromarty Firth, Dingwall was made a Royal Burgh in 1226 and is an excellent base from which to visit many of the interesting parts of the east coast, the Black Isle and - to the west - the glens of the central Highlands. |
